Business

A primary element of Interweave’s mission is to enable individuals and families to succeed in starting and/or expanding a business. Interweave operates in locations where jobs are scarce or non-existent. For many participants, business income is the only source of livelihood, and successful self-employment is a matter of survival.

Through 6P business training, coaching, micro loans and peer mentoring, Interweave enables women and men to support themselves now and shape a sustainable and improving future for themselves and their family.

Social Businesses

In addition to the hundreds of individual and cooperative businesses started and run by program participants, Interweave supports some of its projects through the earnings of a few local Interweave-run “triple-bottom line” businesses. These businesses earn a profit, hire employees, and provide social and environmental benefits (such as clean water in Uganda and a school in Zimbabwe).
